Hotel Points True Value Calculator

IHG One Rewards Points Value Calculator

Compare cash stays vs award stays after opportunity cost.

Estimate how many cents per point you are getting from an IHG One Rewards award stay, including opportunity cost and optional fourth-night-free value. No login, no scraping, no hotel account connection.

Why It Matters

Cash price divided by points is only the first step.

A true hotel points value calculator should also account for the points you would have earned on a cash stay, elite bonus, opportunity cost, resort fee savings, fourth or fifth night free benefits, and the break-even cash rate.

No scraping

Enter the cash rate and points manually. The tool does not search award availability or access official hotel websites.

No login

No hotel account connection is required. Your calculation stays manual and privacy-friendly.

Decision support

Use simple cents per point for a quick check, then use premium inputs to estimate true value after opportunity cost.

FAQ

FAQ

How many cents per point are IHG One Rewards points worth?

IHG One Rewards points vary by hotel, date, cash price, and required points. For hotel stays, divide the cash price by required points and multiply by 100. This calculator uses 0.5 cents per point as a practical baseline.

What IHG cents-per-point value is considered good?

This tool treats about 0.5 cents per point as standard, 0.6 cents or higher as strong, and 0.75 cents or higher as excellent. Fourth-night-free benefits can improve the effective value for eligible users.

Is an IHG award stay or a cash stay better?

It depends on cash price, required points, elite status, promotions, base earning rate, fourth night free, and any taxes or fees saved on an award stay. Premium analysis compares cash versus points after opportunity cost.

Can this IHG calculator reflect fourth night free?

Yes. Premium inputs include an optional fourth-night-free setting for eligible IHG One Rewards credit card benefits. It is off by default because it does not apply to every member or every booking.

What should I do if IHG already shows the fourth-night-free total points?

Use the total required points mode and enter the total shown by IHG. In that mode, the calculator does not recalculate fourth night free, which avoids double-counting the benefit.

Do IHG elite status levels affect the calculation?

Yes. Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, and Diamond Elite status can change the number of IHG One Rewards points you would have earned on a cash stay. The premium calculator estimates that opportunity cost.

What is the difference between 10, 5, and 3 points per USD for IHG?

Many IHG One Rewards participating hotels earn 10 base points per eligible USD. Some brands such as Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, or residence-style properties may earn 5 points per USD, while IHG Army Hotels may be estimated at 3 points per USD.

Can this calculator include taxes, fees, or other savings on IHG award stays?

Yes. Premium inputs include additional savings. If an award stay saves taxes, fees, or other costs compared with a cash stay, enter that amount so it is included in true point value and break-even cash rate.

Why include points I would have earned on a cash stay?

When you book an award stay, you usually give up the base points, elite bonus, promotion points, or card points you could have earned by paying cash. That lost value is an opportunity cost, and it can materially change the cash-versus-points decision.

What does true points value mean?

True points value means the estimated value of an award stay after subtracting the value of points you would have earned on a cash stay and adding any fee savings. It is designed to be more realistic than simple cash price divided by points.

What does break-even cash rate mean?

Break-even cash rate is the approximate cash price above which an award stay becomes favorable after your personal point value, forgone cash-stay points, and fee savings. It helps answer: how expensive must the hotel be before using points makes sense?

What should I enter as eligible cash rate?

Use the portion of the stay that would normally earn hotel points before taxes and non-eligible fees. If you are unsure, leave it blank and the calculator will use the cash price as a conservative estimate.

What should I use as my personal point value?

Use the value you personally assign to one point. If you bought points, you can use your purchase cost per point. If you transferred bank or credit card points, consider the transfer ratio and the value of the points you gave up.

Should I enter the cash price including taxes and fees?

For simple cents per point, enter the cash amount you would actually pay for the same stay. For premium analysis, eligible cash rate can be entered separately when you know the portion that earns hotel points.

Does this tool log in, scrape prices, or connect to my hotel account?

No. This is a manual, privacy-friendly calculator. It does not log in, scrape official websites, search award availability, or connect to hotel loyalty accounts. You enter the cash price and points manually.

Is this an official hotel loyalty program tool?

No. This site is an unofficial calculator and is not affiliated with any hotel group or loyalty program. Always confirm final cash rates, required points, taxes, fees, reward rules, and benefits on the official hotel website before booking.

Can I use this before buying points or transferring credit card points?

Yes. The calculator is useful before buying hotel points, transferring flexible points, or choosing between a cash stay and an award stay. Compare the true cents-per-point result with your acquisition cost or transfer opportunity cost.

Does premium access unlock both English and Japanese versions?

Yes, premium access is brand-specific. A purchase for this brand can unlock both the English and Japanese calculators for the same brand. It does not unlock other brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, or IHG unless that brand is purchased separately.

What should I do if premium access does not unlock after purchase?

Sign in to codoc with the same account used for purchase and reload the page. For paid access, billing, viewing rights, or subscription issues, contact through codoc purchase history when possible.

Does this tool provide booking support or award availability alerts?

No. This tool does not provide booking support, award availability alerts, account verification, or official loyalty program advice. It is a calculator for comparing values after you manually check prices and points.

Can I calculate other hotel loyalty programs?

Yes. Tabi Point Calculator includes separate calculators for Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, and IHG One Rewards. Each brand uses its own earning rules, point value assumptions, and premium access.

Can I share or recommend this calculator?

Yes. You can share your result image or link to the calculator. If codoc affiliate options are available for this product, creators may be able to refer paid access through codoc.
